In celebration of our amazing planet, go wild with all the family in the World of Children at WOMAD 2020. This year’s theme is Wildlife!
Find out what’s in store in this exciting corner of the festival as World of Children programmer Mandy Adams shares her top tips on what’s coming up!
Hi Mandy! We are super excited for this year’s theme. What’s the idea behind it?
With the current ecological climate we are facing, it is important to inform the next generation. We are hoping to encourage children in the World of Children at WOMAD this year to celebrate the beauty of the natural world in all its wonder, and teach them ways we can cherish and preserve it.
What activities should we be getting excited about?
Across the WOMAD weekend, we will have a great team of artists on hand to assist children in the creation of eye catching art, in all shapes and sizes, from hats, to flags, to large scale carnival pieces. We’ll have ideas inspired by designs from all over the world; from flotillas of fabulous floaty fish, tropical birds of paradise, Koala bears and even a great Orangutan Tea party! There will be lots of free play, face painting, circus skills, storytelling, dance and song too.
Why is the World of Children such an important aspect of WOMAD 2020?
World of Children allows families to enjoy activities together, providing space for children to learn new skills and explore the natural world around us, which is celebrated by not only WOMAD itself, but many of the artists playing over the weekend.
Don’t forget, all under 13s go FREE to WOMAD 2020!
