Greentea Peng

Gritty R&B with London accent and Mother Earth vibes

They’re all queuing up to sing the praises of Greentea Peng. Born Aria Wells, this south Londoner was named among The Observer’s 20 popular culture tips for 2020, while describing her as “a more bohemian Amy Winehouse and a Lahndahn Lauryn Hill”. Vice added another touchstone, deciding that her voice “evokes the grit of Erykah Badu… over love letters to weed’s calming effects”. Having travelled extensively across Mexico, Peru and India, a return to her home patch resulted in working with Goldie and The Streets, and touring with Neneh Cherry. Greentea’s rise is inevitable and inescapable, fuelled by her originality of expression and distinctive world view. As The Line Of Best Fit put it so succinctly, her songs“illustrate the eclectic soundscapes of a hectic city, and bring them down to earth with her own sense of zen”.
