Stop Press - Call to Children's workshop leaders – visual artists, dancers, musicians, puppeteers, storytellers, face painters...
Save our precious planet is the theme for our procession and workshops this year. Join us to celebrate the beauty of the natural world and raise awareness of the importance and urgency of protecting it for future generations.
Creative possibilities abound from giant rain forests to endangered species. We look forward to receiving your ideas which can contribute to our final famous Sunday procession. We are always looking for large and small scale structure, costume, storytelling and any other workshop possibilities that spring to mind.
To apply email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Closing date for applications: Friday March 21st 2014.
As Kids (agred 13 and under) go FREE we figured that there should be a world just for kids within WOMAD!
And so here we are. WOMAD World of Kids, is just as it says on the tin. It is full of things for the young-uns to do during the day at the festival. Little kids to very big kids (parents included) can get involved in the activities there.
Workshops for building giant colourful structures to march around the WOMAD festival site during the children's procession or workshops to mould clay into creatures and design t-shirts.
Or graffiti walls to make your mark, beatboxing sessions to learn how to reach that booming bass sound with only your mouth and circus skills for the acrobats jugglers inside you.
Or chill out in the tepee story tent or climb on the frames or bang a beat out on those musical mazes or seek bugs in the long grass.
And then the procession. Because after a long lovely weekend of banging, creating, painting, laughing, dancing, juggling and much much more we want to celebrate the fun we have had with everyone else. We want to show off our creations to the WOMAD world. Join everyone at the WOMAD of Kids at 5:30pm on Sunday evening to do just that. See you there!
