‘Stand for Forests’ Competition with Greenpeace
‘Stand for Forests’ with Greenpeace at WOMAD
Greenpeace will be at WOMAD again this July to celebrate our precious forests and to highlight the need to protect them.
We are celebrating the beauty and awe of our forests by looking closer to home amongst the stunning trees at Charlton Park. Greenpeace are organising a tree treasure hunt, where we’re asking you to look up and notice the trees around you. Whoever correctly finds all the trees we have carefully selected gets entered into our competition to win fabulous prizes… But it’s not that easy, you will have to answer forest questions on-route too. It’s a great activity for children and adults alike.
To enter the competition please visit Greenpeace in the Wellbeing area!
Life on earth depends on our forests. They are the lungs of the planet. They help us breathe by pumping out oxygen. They influence day-to-day weather and help keep the climate stable by storing massive amounts of carbon. The Earth’s ancient forests form some of the most diverse ecosystems known to science and are vital in regulating the world’s climate. But eighty percent of them have already been destroyed or degraded, and the remaining forests are under threat. Greenpeace is working to end illegal and destructive logging of the world’s ancient forests and to protect the rights of the indigenous peoples and species that depend on them.
