Crime prevention information

Police Statement:

The unlawful supply or illegal drug use is not condoned by WOMAD. Drug enforcement laws are as applicable on site as anywhere else in the country. Security officers will be on site and will deal with drug offences in accordance with national guidelines. If you engage in the unlawful supply of drugs, it is likely that you will be arrested. Neither anti-social nor illegal behaviour will be tolerated and participants will leave themselves liable to eviction from the site.

Experimenting with drugs can lead to adverse reactions. The crowds and sheer size of the festival can be very frightening and disorientating. If you do take drugs and you become ill, depressed or frightened, please ask a steward to direct you to one of the many facilities on site which can help and support you.

Make sure your camping light and stove are clean and properly adjusted. Never take a portable barbecue or lit charcoal into an enclosed space like a tent or caravan. Make sure exhaust gases from generators are properly vented away from occupied areas. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, highly poisonous gas that can kill in minutes.

Carbon Monoxide poisoning can be caused by ANY fuel that burns or smoulders.

Head to Customer Care for help and advice. The Customer Care Centre is open 24 hours between Thursday 24 July at 8am until Monday 28 July at midday.

Lost & found property

If you loose anything at the festival pop by to see if it has been handed in. If you find anything please hand it in here. We know the owners will be very grateful to be reunited with their belongings.

To check if anything has turned up after the festival, please email lostproperty@womad.org with the following information:

  • Name & contact telephone number.
  • Description of items lost.
  • Telephone number, model and make.
  • Address for items to be returned.

No sound systems or amplified music allowed on the festival site. Those who disregard this regulation will have their equipment confiscated. Drumming: we know that drumming is part of the entertainment at a WOMAD Festival but PLEASE do not drum in the campsite between 8pm and 8am. We have more complaints from campers and local residents about drumming than any other issue. Please take this seriously - our licence depends on it. We reserve the right to ask persistent drummers to leave the festival site.

Personal alcohol use

Alcohol for personal use is allowed into the festival, however, no glass is allowed in the arena. If you are under 18 your alcohol will be confiscated and disposed of. If you are a parent or guardian, do not supply your children with alcohol – it is a licensed premises and supply to minors is against the Law!

Between 23-28 July 2014.
