Thrilling Scottish folk three-piece

A folk music trio can be an intense format in which to play. Everyone’s contribution matters as much as everyone else’s. There’s nowhere to hide, and no wrong moves can be made. Talisk are the latest masters of the form, their combination of concertina, fiddle and guitar offering brilliant playing and stirring tunes. The rise of these three young Scots has been sharp and short, with praise and admiration from the likes of Mark Radcliffe and Simon Mayo adding to the gathering wind propelling them both across the world and onto the shortlists of many an awards jury. All this attention is very much earned. Their playing is dazzling and dizzying, their fingers a collective blur as they crank up the pace and the intensity of every tune. Possessing such intuition undoubtedly proves that three is indeed the magic number.
