Atau Tanaka Japan/USA
His electronic compositions intriguingly incorporate “gestures and body signals”.
Now resident in London, the Japanese-American composer/performance artist Atau Tanaka’s explorations at the interstices of music and art were first inspired by a meeting with the avant-garde composer John Cage, whose work he has since performed in concert.
A prime mover in the Japanese noise scene for several years, he was commissioned by the late John Peel to assemble an ‘orchestra of noise’ for the Southbank’s Meltdown festival in 1998.
He has created sound/image installations for various art galleries while live performances of his electronic compositions intriguingly incorporate “gestures and body signals”.http://www.ataut.net/
