Amsterdam Klezmer Band
Keeping the traditions of klezmer fresh, urgent and - above all - highly danceable.

Classically trained yet street-wise, the seven-strong Amsterdam Klezmer Band see themselves as the contemporary spiritual kindred of the klezmorim, the professional Jewish musicians who travelled across Eastern Europe in centuries past.

Yet there is nothing antique or fusty about their approach which throws contemporary styles and techniques into the mix to keep the traditions of klezmer fresh, urgent and – above all – highly danceable.

They began life in the mid-1990s as a group of buskers playing traditional Yiddish party music on the streets but have since evolved into an internationally acclaimed touring band. They celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2016 with the release of their 14th album Oyoyoy.
